These qualifications will demonstrate that you will have met the minimum industry expected levels of knowledge and awareness and that you can work safely, and know what to do should an emergency situation arise.

Machinery

The land-based sector benefits from utilising a broad range of machinery for an even broader range of tasks. Understanding the capabilities of machinery, the maintenance and safe operation are paramount for efficient use, good working practice, and the associated costs should a machine or component fail. These certificated courses will train users to be fully aware of the capabilities of their machinery, the preparations and maintenance for optimum safe usage.

Animal Management/Vermin Control

Good animal husbandry is a requirement of the agricultural sector, and these qualifications are designed to keep farmers and stockpersons fully aware with a comprehensive framework of training available. Should you need to administer Veterinary Medicines then all the skills and techniques required will be taught. If your job requires you to move livestock then Animals in Transit will enable you to do this safely. Similarly should you need to protect your stock from vermin infestation, there are qualifications available to enable you to carry out pest control on farm safely and within the law.

Forestry & Conservation

Health and Safety, good working practice and a conscientious approach are vitally important in the Forestry and Conservation industry. Gaining an industry recognised qualification ensures that operators have achieved agreed levels of competence. Trainees will learn about the pre-use checks, maintenance and safe operation of their chosen tools, as well as the observation and recognition of that tool’s intrinsic safety features.

ATV & Off-Road Vehicles

Understanding machinery, the maintenance and operations skill levels required of an ATV is key to the prevention of accidents, damage to the machine and associated costs. These qualifications would be suitable for agricultural workers, horticulture and forestry operatives and do not replace and legal requirement for a driving licence. The minimum age for candidates wishing to take these qualifications is 16.

Safe Use of Pesticides

Plant protection and pest control products need to be used legally, safely and with high levels of competency. These certificated courses provide training and assessment specific to your job or employment, and to prepare, maintain and operate your apparatus within legislation. If your job involves the application of pesticides commercially, then you are required by law to hold a Certificate of Competence (CoC) under the Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) Control of Pesticides Regulations, 1986.
